Referrals accepted from General Medical Practitioners, Nurse Practictioners, Dental Practitioners and we also accept self-referrals.

This will include a face-to-face consultation, detailed dermatological and medical history, clinical photographs, specialist dermoscopic investigations with photographs and any relevant correspondence with your GP. This ensures you are fully informed about your condition and the options available for treatment.

A dermatoscope is a specialist handheld instrument. It uses a polarized light source and is able to magnifies the lesion for closer assessment.

Laboratory examinations are necessary for all skin lesions under best practice guidance. Due to clinical governance regulations, all lesions removed will be sent for histopathological analysis.
However, if it is decided that a laboratory examination is not to be necessary (for example skin tags) you will need to sign a disclaimer prior to treatment.

Occasionally, we will recommend you see a dermatology colleague for an opinion prior to removal of a lesion. This decision will be based on our specialist dermatoscopy findings. The cost of this is in the region of £200. If following a second opinion the lesion is thought to be benign we are happy to proceed with the removal. If there are any concerns regarding the diagnosis you will be referred to an appropriate cancer specialist services.

Not all treatments will be possible in clinic and an onward referral may be required.
If we cannot go ahead we will explain why and if possible signpost you to another service. We will provide a discharge letter to your GP and an onward referral if required.
This is included in the consultation fee.

The cost for a consultation and clinical assessment is £120.
